On Friday, November 2nd from 6p-9p there will be a special Jewelry Trunk Show at the Silverthore Gallery in Rocky River.

These local jewelry artists will be there to present and talk about their work: Teresa Crompton, Shelley Gross, Maureen Hunt, Yvette Rudin, Heidi Albert, Deborah Likins-Fowler, and of course our own Lori Paximadis of VirtualLori on Etsy.

Stop by and say hi, enjoy some refreshments and take a gander at some beautiful things made right here in Cleveland.

Arts Collinwood volunteer day

Just got the following from George Nemeth of Brewed Fresh Daily, who is on the board at Arts Collinwood. I'm doing a show that day, otherwise I'd figure out a way to be there:

Arts Collinwood is ready to complete its community arts center!

Thanks to generous gifts from the Thomas White and Abington Foundations, renovation plans are moving ahead on our 2,000 square foot classroom, rehearsal and performance space. Volunteers are needed to help complete demolition work, as well as for finish jobs, light construction, painting and more. If you have skills to contribute or materials to donate, please call us.

Join the work party Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10-11, between noon and 5:00pm. We’ll provide the pizza and refreshments if you bring the will to work. All efforts benefit the community arts programs of Arts Collinwood. For information, call: 216-692-9500. Work takes place at the Arts Collinwood Building, 15605 Waterloo Rd (just one block north of I-90 at the corner of Waterloo and E. 156th St.) Interested in seeing our progress? Check the web site at www.artscollinwood.org.

Many thanks to the nearly 100 volunteer and donors who have helped us successfully complete the first three stages of our restoration. Your efforts are bringing the arts to life in North Collinwood.

call for artists

Thanks NaturalAbstracts, for letting us know that The Friends of the Lakewood Commission on Aging is hosting Sip into the Holidays an Auction to benefit the Lakewood Division on Aging at Local Girl Gallery on Saturday, December 1st.

They are looking for artists and craftspeople to decorate and donate wine or martini glasses. Donated glasses should be in pairs by theme and may be functional or not when they are done. "As wild as you want! You have total artistic freedom." says Ruth Koenigsmark, co-ordinator for the event.

It would be great to donate a couple of sets from ClevelandHandmade. If you are interested in donating a decorated pair of wine glasses as a group, please contact smashing by October 26th. Please have glasses ready by November 23rd.

how bazaar! ;)

BAZAAR BIZARRE CLEVELAND
The Bazaar Bizarre in Cleveland is December 1st, from noon to 9:00 p.m. in the storefront of the Sincere Building (2079 East 4th Street.)
If anyone is interested in sharing a table there, or helping "man" the table please contact Ramona.

new etsy teams page and pledge

Wednesday's etsy team workshop had some exciting announcements. Friday will launch two new endeavors to get the word out about etsy and the handmade way of life.

1) a new and improved Teams page, with another even better version coming soon.
2) a multi-media, multi-sponsor website that will ask people to sign a pledge saying they will buy and ask for handmade gifts this holiday season.

check out the new team page on Friday and add your email address to list to stay in the loop :)
