cleveys at the bazaar bizarre/ingenuity fest!
one of my wishes is to someday have an entire cupboard full of handmade ceramic dishes and plates and serving platters and tea pots and sushi trays and and and you get it. i've made a little bit of progress by picking up some gorgeous mugs and a few other ceramic accoutrements from lakewood artist Gina DeSantis. her perfectly weighted and luxuriously functional pieces are such pretty compositions of texture and color, gorgeous and unfussily modern. sigh. love. :)
you can see her this weekend at the Bazaar Bizarre, part of Ingenuity Fest, a three day celebration of art and technology in Cleveland. she will be in the AllSignsGo area AND she will be offering some special deals (there is a print&bring coupon on her blog, hint hint!) pretty sweet!
the hours for the Bazaar Bizarre are a little shorter than the Ingenuity Fest's hours, so here they are: friday (7/25) from 4-9 pm, saturday (7/26) from noon-6pm and sunday (7/27) from noon-6pm.
there is an admission fee to the festival, $10 for one day or $15 for a weekend pass (young people under 12 are free.) BUT admission is FREE for everyone during "happy hour" on Friday (7/25) from 4-6pm! a perfect chance to run in and shop! or click here to get a coupon code for BOGO tickets
(i also heard that sara from small screen designs will be vending too, check her out, her prints and shirts are way rad!)

free fabric-save it from the landfill! :)
"Carnegie Textile Company Closing WarehouseAll Fabrics in Storage offered to artists at NO COST
Background - Carnegie Textile Company is planning to exit the warehouse in July and dispose of the materials (in thegarbage/trash!). The company would like to offer the goods to thecommunity via ZeroLandfill. Due to the timeline and the inabilityto transfer and store such a large amount, ZeroLandfill felt itwould be easier to organize a visit to the warehouse and artistscould choose their own items and transport them directly.
When Katherine Dunlevey attended the June ZeroLandfill disbursement day, she was approached about possible interest in the treasure trove. She was able to make the arrangements as listed below.
Anyone is welcome to attend the event, but Katherine must be contacted (even up to the day of the event) so the names can be added to thesecurity check list. The warehouse has a large number bolts of fabric including scrim (about the weight of interfacing), gauze, and other types as well asboxed fabrics including a large selection of cut denims in many colors, prints, and styles (sample was 48"x48"). Many of the fabrics are industrial or institutional in grade.
Pickup - Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 9:30 Warehouse located in East Cleveland at
1734 Ivanhoe Road.
